Our wines reflect the landscape of our vineyards and their terroir, conveying the care with which their vines are treated. They are extremely aromatic wines with notes of the wild fruits and flowers of our vineyard. They are very fresh with a light touch of acidity, marked by their sandy loam, shallow and slightly acidic soils. The RÍas Baixas D.O. Albarino is a young, dry and intensely aromatic wine, regarded as the best white wine from Spain.
The 2014 vintage was the result of a winter with mild temperatures and little rainfall. Witnessing a rainy spring with a cooler than usual May and continuous rain, we headed into a summer with low temperatures and abundant rainfall. These changes led to a significant delay in the maturation of the grapes. Fortunately, in late September to early October we enjoyed warm days that provided very aromatic, fresh and more acidic musts than usual.
Our Premium brand. Grapes selected for Pazo Pondal come from Leira Longa a lower altitude plot, which provides less acidity, more body, and greater concentration in the wines. It is characterised by its granite, shallow and acidic soils with a pH of 5.8. It is the only farm planted using a traditional trellis system which allows greater aeration of the bunches and protects them from direct sunlight.
It is one of the winery’s oldest plots and was harvested at its peak of ripeness on 26th and 27th of September. The soils are high in the organic matter that makes up the shallowness of the soil (30-40 cm) and improves the retention of water and nutrients.
The grapes selected for Leira Pondal come from plots of Rañado, Torre and El Alto vineyards. These are higher altitude vineyards with less humidity, more ventilation and greater temperature difference between day and night. As a result, we get wines with slower maturation and greater aromatic intensity with a higher touch of acidity that are lighter and fresh on the palate. The plots are planted using a trellis system oriented north and south-east.
Their location allows them to be continuously ventilated and bathed in sunlight, ensuring optimum quality and maturity of its clusters. These plots were harvested on 28th, 29th and 30th of September.

Our Pazo Pondal liqueurs and orujos are prepared with Albariño grape bagasse and come from our vineyards. After a slow fermentation, they are distilled using only the traditional drip method in still, utilising the central portion of the distillation, the “heart”, where the highest quality spirit is found.
Our liqueurs are obtained from natural maceration which consists of separating the soluble components of the best herbs, coffee and fruit, leaving them at rest in the spirit for several months in barrels. This thorough selection process is fundamental, as it marks the personality of the quality grade.
